Travel experience to improve in Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai International Airport with the launch of Exclusive Pearl Lounge

AFGHANISTAN – Travel experience is set to improve in one of Afghanistan’s largest international airport: Hamid Karzai International Airport.

The new improvements at the airport are as a result of the launch of a new exclusive Pearl Lounge by one of the fastest growing aviation services providers in emerging markets, National Aviation Services (NAS).

NAS said in a statement that it was pleased to be the exclusive lounge operator in Afghanistan, adding that “the 144 square meter departure lounge is the first of its kind in Afghanistan, catering to local and international travelers looking to unwind before a flight.”

Located in the departures hall, after immigration, the Pearl Lounge provides passengers with a comfortable space to relax, read a newspaper, watch TV, surf the internet or just catch up on last minute work with the high-speed Wi-fi connection.

 The lounge also has a hot and cold food selection as well as beverage section to complement the leisure offering at the lounge.

To add to the relaxing ambiance, travelers can enjoy Barista style hot drinks as they wait for their flights.

A flight information screen installed at the lounge and a team vigilant staff ensures that passengers are not delayed for their flights.

NAS was first launched in 2003 in Kuwait and has quickly transformed into a leading airports service provider with a presence across three regions: The Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

The company has over 8,000 employees providing a portfolio of services including Ramp and Passenger Services, Cargo Handling, Engineering Services and Line Maintenance, Airport Technologies, and Fixed Base Operations.

The air service provider currently operates 40 airport lounges and provides ground handling services to seven of the world’s top ten airlines.

NAS which is one of the first ground handlers in the world to obtain the ISAGO certification also operates an Aviation Training Center and a Travel Agency.

NAS began operations in Afghanistan in 2014 offering ground handling services in Kabul, Kandahar and Herat.

Its ground handling operations in the country are ISAGO certified with the last renewal having been done in 2017.
