Alliance for Rural Electrification and SIAZ sign deal to boost energy access with renewables in Zambia

ZAMBIA – The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) and the Solar Industry Association of Zambia (SAIZ), have joined forces to improve global energy access for at least 500 million people, create over five million green jobs, and avoid at least one billion tons of CO2e emissions by 2030. The two bodies aim to achieve this by promoting renewable energy technologies, such as household and mini-grid solar solutions, especially in rural areas with little access to electricity. Italian firm to build world’s first industrial-scale renewable power-to-fertilizer plant in Kenya

KENYA – Italian multinational company Maire Tecnimont, has announced that its subsidiaries MET Development, Stamicarbon and NextChem have started work on a renewable power–to-fertiliser plant in Kenya. This will be the world’s first industrial-scale plant powered by renewable energy to produce low carbon intensity nitrates. Temasek and Blackrock partner to invest US$600m in reduction of carbon emissions

GLOBAL – Temasek Holdings, the Singapore state investor and asset manager BlackRock have announced a team up to invest in private companies that use technology to reduce carbon emissions. The partnership, referred to as Decarbonization Partners, will launch a series of late-stage venture capital and early growth private equity investment funds, the two companies said in a statement.
