Sibanye consolidates mining operation with acquisition of majority stake in DRDGold

SOUTH AFRICA – Sibanye-Stillwater, an international precious metals mining company, has acquired an additional stake in gold producer DRDGold, in a deal the company described as creating an industry-leading surface mining partnership. The company, which in 2019 concluded a US$360 million (R5.17bn) takeover of cash-strapped Lonmin, increased its shareholding in DRDGold from 38.05% to 50.1%.
