Two newly inaugurated solar power plants to boost access to energy in Ghana’s Upper West Region

GHANA – President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has recently inaugurated two solar power plants in the country’s Upper West region which will boost access to energy. The two power plants located in the town of Lawra were built by Spanish energy company Elecnor and have a capacity of 6.5MWp (Megawatt peak) instead of 4 MWp as initially planned by the Ghanaian government.  Ghanaweb reported that the solar park will provide electricity capable of powering about 15,000 households in the upper west region of the country.…

Spanish energy company Elecnor sells stake in Mauritanian wind power project to Siemens

MAURITANIA– Spanish energy company Elecnor has offloaded its stake in the Boulenouar wind power project, located in Western Mauritania, to German company Siemens AG. The Spanish energy company Elecnor is withdrawing after helping to set up the consortium responsible for the development of this clean energy project.
