Verod Capital appoints Nieros Oyegun Soerensen as Principal and COO

NIGERIA -Verod Capital Management, a West African private equity firm, has hired Nieros Oyegun Soerensen as a Principal and the firm’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Soerensen brings over 15 years of rich finance and leadership experience, most recently as the Head of The Africa List and Nigeria coverage at CDC Group, where she supported the growth of CDC’s investment footprint in the region, with an emphasis on developing management and organisational capacity within the portfolio and beyond.

She was previously the Head of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations at LADOL, and also has project finance and corporate strategy experience from Macquarie Capital, and investment banking experience from Goldman Sachs & Co.

She serves on a number of boards internationally, having gained qualifications in corporate governance and company direction from the Institute of Directors UK.

“We are excited about what this means for the next phase of our growth, as Verod will benefit significantly from her many years of experience in some of the best financial institutions across the globe.”

“It is a real privilege to be joining Verod, and an exciting move for me both personally and professionally,” Soerensen said.

“This is a talented, world-class team with a strong reputation in the market, and I look forward to working closely across the team to develop the key operational pillars that will support the business through its growth trajectory.”

Soerensen joins the executive management team at Verod and will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the firm, building a stronger platform for sustainable growth and supporting Verod on its path to becoming an exceptional investment firm.

“We are extremely pleased and happy to welcome Nieros to the Verod team”, said Danladi Verheijen, CEO of Verod.

“We are excited about what this means for the next phase of our growth, as Verod will benefit significantly from her many years of experience in some of the best financial institutions across the globe.”

This comes months after Verod  hired Wale Odusanya as a Vice President in its Lagos office and a Senior Deal Maker on its Investment Team.

Odusanya joined Verod from Stanbic IBTC Capital, where he spent the last 13 years, most recently as the Head of the Financial Advisory business.

He was involved in originating and executing M&As, divestitures and corporate restructurings and has completed transactions across key sectors in Nigeria, including sectors that overlap with Verod’s investment strategy, such as, financial services, consumer products and services, and manufacturing.
